We’re the Nyokas
A climate scientist and a climate-aware therapist, and parents to two little humans with long roads ahead of them through this often magical—and sometimes terrifying—world.
We’ve weathered climate dangers from drought and fire to hurricanes and floods, founding The Climate Coaches to help others do what we’ve had to learn for ourselves and our own family:
Validate and interrogate our climate and eco-anxiety to understand their origins
Witness the creativity and resilience of human and non-human community
Integrate those qualities into our world views, lifestyles, and relationships
Share what we learn (what embraces change, serves life, and feeds spirit)
Our clients/seekers/healers tend to be folks who feel deeply for our planet’s fraying life web and life ways. They want to be part of the great reweaving being undertaken by billions of people, through millions of efforts around the world. They are already part of that reweaving, yet feel cyclic guilt, shame, paralysis, or burnout, often internalizing these universal patterns for personal ones.
All feel the grief, urgency, and frustration of our collective moment.
Here are some examples of folks we feel especially well suited to support:
Younger adults struggling to find and speak their truth amid projection and gaslighting from family members, friends, or co-workers.
Professionals feeling uneasy about the effects of their work, wanting to earn a livelihood in a more aligned way.
Couples facing frightening trends together, trying to connect while navigating what can feel like irreconcilable values.
Aspiring parents, unsure of the morality or practicality of bringing new life into such an uncertain landscape.
Parents and caregivers determined to make the wisest choices for their families related to geography, community, and security.
Anyone with identities, social locations, safety concerns, or forced changes that intersect with climate and eco-distress to make them more challenging or urgent.
We’re not offering “answers,” because like everyone else, we’re still learning to ask the right questions. But we are actively seeking, unlearning, gathering, discerning, laughing and crying, trying and failing and trying again, and we want to help everyone we can feel empowered to do the same.
Our Mission Everyday
Help all we meet feel a little less alone and a little more empowered
Our Vision for the Future
That all see a future worth believing in, and a path to making it real
Meet the Nyokas

Hello fellow human! I’m a climate scientist, nature guide, foraging teacher, community organizer, and unapologetic believer in a noble future for our species. I offer different coaching styles because folks are coming from different places, seeking different things. Sometimes, all I’m asked to do is share or sanity check some basic climate science. Other times, I may help dig deeply into that good old existential dread, breathing with you through hard truths and unearthing fresh courage. Maybe you need a knowledgable “nature ally” to join you on an in-person walkabout to find answers only the more-than-human world can provide. I even work directly with men and masculine-embodied folks through a natural actualization model called Guardian’s Path. We can do traditional sessions or something more personalized, like text affirmations, an anxiety hotline, body doubling, or research assistance. Ultimately, I just want you to know you have a wingman who will never give up on you, your family, or our world.
Hi, I'm Rachyl! A highly sensitive person, intuitive, artist, and licensed psychotherapist with a background in trauma and an expertise in helping sensitive women navigate a changing world that doesn't always appreciate the soft or the subtle. My clients tend to be deeply affected by the state of the world and the suffering of its beings (human, plant, and animal alike), and often feel trapped by their perceived powerlessness to do anything to help. I truly believe the coming revolution begins as an internal one - and I guide women to untangle stories of internalized blame, to contain and treat viral helplessness about the future, to grieve youthful expectations we were sold about our lives, and to bravely craft visions for new healthful, creative, and connective futures. This is deathwork; this is birthwork. This is necessary work for a changing world, and I'd be honored to support your inner revolution.
